Natural Landscapes (S1P2)

Ashwell Vineyards, Martinborough. I call this lazy photography, because I thought that there was potential for great pictures with all the water drops hanging of the vineyard wires after the rain, but couldn't be bothered rugging up and going outside to shoot it properly - this was taken through a bedroom window of the vineyard owners' house.

There was a great layering of weather systems, with snow clouds on the hills in the background, and some moody heavy rain clouds above - the sun struggling to break through here and there (it won out in the end...)...

This image is a somewhat more conventional proportion than the previous one, but I have still resisted the traditional landscape format - for various reasons...

Here's the plug - look out for Ashwell wines in your local winestore (NZ and parts of Aus) or on the menu in many Wellington restaurants, they do a good range, and a cracker Pinot Noir if you ask me... (others agree ). Not to be confused with Ashwell Valley wines of Australia however...

barrels

Our first stop in Napa (after check-in) was Trefethen Vineyards. We got there 10 minutes before wine tasting closed, and got lucky. The lady was really nice and gave us many pours, as they say. We bought the Double T, named after the way the branches look. Anyway, it is really good. After tasting, we walked around. Here's a bunch of wine in barrels.

Trefethen Vineyards

At Trefethen Vineyards, there were a bunch of wooden crates outside for the grapes. I walked over and took a picture of it.
